Orthodontic Center

Your #1 resource on orthodontic services.

There used to be an automobile slogan "Ask the man who owns one." That is still the best way to find almost anything. Check with your neighbors and friends. Ask whether they have had experience with an orthodontist and how they feel about that practitioner. You can have your child ask all the kids in his or her class who are wearing braces. You should gather quite a list.

Your regular family dentist is another good source of information about orthodontic specialists. In fact, your dentist may have training in orthodontics. The danger with that is that some dentists take short courses in orthodontics and then add that specialty to their practices. Orthodontics is a highly specialized practice and requires serious study.

An excellent place to get referrals for any professionals is through the professional society, board or organization that covers that profession. For example, the American Association of Orthodontists has regional lists of board certified orthodontics. You can call them at 1-800-787-2444 to find specialists in your area. Once you have found a few names, it's a good idea to talk to them and perhaps to ask for references from previous or present patients.
